Custom Website Development

Large or small, we build them all.  If you're after a brand new site or want to give your existing web presence an image upgrade, we can help.  

Our process starts with an in-depth consultation in which we meet with you to determine your exact requirements.  We then develop a draft layout for your site, which we go back and forth with you on until the structure is firmly in place.  After that we come up with our initial round of design proposals and work with you to nail down the best look and feel for your site.  Once that's done, we custom code a new Joomla template based on the finalized design and then hook it up to your Joomla installation on our development server.  At this point we'll provide you with login information so you can start adding your photos, vidoes, and written content to the site.  Or, if you like, we can do that for you.  

After all the content has been loaded comes the testing phase, during which we run your site on all currently available browsers and operating systems to ensure compatability and also to make sure all the links, extensions, forms and components are functioning properly.

And after that's finished, we transfer the completed site to your hosting server and you go live.

Simple brochure-type websites typically take from two to four weeks to complete and range in price from $1000 to $2000 or more, depending on the complexity of the design work.  More complex sites involving custom forms, integration and configuration of multiple Joomla extensions, or heavy customization of existing Joomla extensions (such as VirtueMart) will have commensurately higher pricetags and longer development times.  

Please note that we do not support Internet Explorer 6.  If you want your site to function on that ancient and outdated browser, additional fees will apply.

Template Customization

One of the great advantages of Joomla is the enormous variety of high-quality commercial templates available.  If you'd prefer to save the time and expense of having a site designed and built from scratch, having an existing Joomla template customized to meet your needs is the best way to go.  The SQC site itself is based on a  high-quality RocketTheme template.

The companies that we've found create the best Joomla templates out there include RocketTheme, YooTheme, TemplatePlazza, Shape5, Gavick, and JoomlArt - but there are many others.  Once you've found and purchased a template that you love, we can connect it to a Joomla installation and customize it to suit your needs - adding your logo, changing colours, making layout adjustments, adding your content, installing and configuring extensions, and so forth.  

Simple template-based sites can be set up and configured from $400 and up, depending on the amount of customization required.

Video Editing and Encoding

If you have video content that you'd like to feature on your site, we can edit it to your specifications and encode it to Flash video (.flv) format, the most accessible format on the web, or to any other format you desire.  We can process video from any source - DVDs, miniDV tapes, memory cards, other websites - and in any format.  Video editing and encoding services are available at $50 CDN/hour.

Graphic Design

We can develop logos, branding, stationery materials (letterhead, business cards, envelopes, invoices) and custom graphics of all kinds.  Graphic design services are available at $50 CDN/hour.

Website Hosting

SQC is an authorized reseller of MediaTemple's hosting services.  We lease several top-quality MediaTemple servers and pass the savings on to you.  We can provide bulletproof rock-solid hosting for Joomla-based websites starting at $10 CDN per month.  Larger, more complex and resource-intensive sites can be hosted from $20/month and up.
